Abstrakt

Caffeine is one of the most widely used stimulants in the world. It can also be added to various drinks, foods and cosmetics. Caffeine occurs naturally in plants, where it performs a protective function against pests. This feature is also beginning to be used in the woodworking industry. This work summarizes the existing studies dealing with the use of caffeine as an active substance in biocides, its uptake and biodegradation by wood pests and its known interactions with wood and the possibilities of use.
