Abstract

Reppe's reaction is one of a C≡C single bond forming reaction which is often used in the synthesis of but-2-yne-1,4-diol from formaldehyde and acetylene. Most of the producers of but-2-yne-1,4-diol use only one type of commercially available catalyst for Reppe's process. In this work, a simplified kinetic behaviour of the reaction using the prepared catalyst is described and the kinetic parameters (reaction constant, activation energy and pre-exponential factor) are evaluated.
