Abstract

Tribotechnical diagnostics of the waste aircraft engine oil was performed by analysis and evaluation of particles by emission spectrometry with rotating disc electrode, particle counting and by a ferrographic technique based on the effect of powerful magnetic field gradient. The methods made it possible to evaluate the concentration and properties of particles: The methods afforded the concentrations of Fe, Al, Cr, Cu, Mg, Ni, Si, Ti, Pb, Sn, Ag, and Mo, the number of particles and particle size distribution as well as provided information on the wear state and a possible risk of failure.
