Abstract

This is a review of the literature information on application of microwave energy to inorganic materials and to chemical treatment of raw materials. Methods of microwave heating of various materials and suitable laboratory or pilot-plant microwave facilities are described. The results of microwave heating of various chemical elements, compounds, and minerals and possible use of microwaves for the reduction of sulfur in coal as well as in drying, disintegration and magnetic separation of ores are presented.
