The present study confirmed the effect of the Burgolderia cepacia symbiont, which, together with the Aphanothece saxicola algae, produces organic acids. These may significantly speed up the powder formation and surface degradation of silicate building materials. The study has supported the expert opinion on the transformation of amino acids by the bacteria present on the surface of facades.
