An Apparatus for Determination of Sorption and Permeation of Organic Vapors in Polymers by Infrared Spectroscopy
Keywords:
multifunction apparatus, sorption, permeation, infrared spectroscopyAbstract
A new multifunctional apparatus employing IR spectrometry was used for determination of permeation and sorption of organic vapors and their binary mixtures in flat sheet polymer membranes. IR spectrometry allows rapid and accurate determination of the grain content or loss of substances. The advantage of this approach becomes apparent when compared with conventional permeation (time-lag) or sorption (gravimetric) methods. The new method enables parallel monitoring of the composition.
