Abstract

This is a brief outline of selected subjects of contemporary chemistry. Transformations of methane, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, available in huge amounts, are extremely topical from the practical point of view. Moreover, various features of these transformations are of great interest for computational chemists. The same concerns economic molecular hydrogen production. In addition, some tempting subjects and areas (e.g., catalysis, quantum chemistry, symmetry and broken symmetry, van der Waals systems, nanochemistry, molecular electronics, ultracold molecules) are briefly mentioned.
